Personal Style: Twinning in Girly & Denim

Usually, I (Karen) prefer to dress up in feminine outfits but for some reason, this time around for this fashion post, Allyson suggested for us to match our look by injecting denim to each of our interpretation of the girly look / style.

What I came up with is this mint maxi dress topped up with my denim jacket. I love the contrast between the dark wash denim jacket and the bright pop of color the mint brings to the entire look. PLUS, the jacket really added that casual feel to the ensemble.

Summer is coming soon so I (Allyson) thought of taking advantage to dress up in this cool weather. Since I decided to be feminine, I wore a blue silk sleeveless top tucked in a white midi skirt and paired them with thong sandals. I don’t want to go too formal so I used a denim jacket to dress it down. I gave it a little boho feel by accessorizing the outfit with a layered bead necklace and a straw hat. I rarely do a different style but glad that I did because it turned out to look nice after all. Sometimes you just have to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Dressing up to look girly doesn’t always mean skirts and dresses. Sometimes it also depends on your wardrobe’s color and cut. To tone down that feminine look, a denim jacket would always be the answer. It’s classic and definitely goes with anything. Just be imaginative and playful when styling yourself.

Now we’re curious, how would you dress up for a girly denim look?
