What’s on the Table? – Isaan

Looking for a restaurant offering authentic Thai cuisine prepared in a contemporary style? “Isaan” restaurant is the answer! This outlet blew our minds when we went here for dinner during our stay at the Grand Hyatt a few weeks ago (read about it HERE).

When we arrived at the entrance of the outlet, there was a lovely receptionist who greeted us and subsequently directed us to our table.
DSC06212 A few minutes after taking our seats, our server handed us the menus which we actually didn’t need because they were offering a set menu that we wanted to try. It’s good for two to share and quite affordable if you ask us (in terms of hotel restaurant standards) since it was only QAR 150 per person. The set menu includes namely stir fried chicken, pad thai, chicken wrapped in pandan leaves (appetizers), papaya salad, green mango salad with shrimp (salad), beef in panang curry, baby chicken in spicy chili dressing (main), sticky rice with mango and seasonal fruits (dessert). The set menu also included unlimited servings of white rice. Allyson had the Royal Isaan (an alcoholic drink) and I had a Mangojito (mocktail) for our beverages.

Honestly, we are not exaggerating when we say everything they served us was ace! Most of the dishes had that spicy kick to it (a signature of Thai food) which we didn’t mind since it wasn’t severely hot but just right enough for me (Karen), a non-spicy gal, to tolerate. We ate all the dishes that were brought to our table except for the papaya salad because it packed extreme heat that even Allyson wasn’t able to tolerate. My favorite among the dishes was the beef curry because the beef was soft and tender plus the curry was so flavorful.

Other than the food, we want to applaud the exceptionally fast service and when we say fast, we really mean it since our food came in less than 15 minutes after placing the order despite having numerous guests. We were truly in awe of how quickly everything came to our table.

After trying Isaan out, we are not surprised that this was HIGHLY COMENDED by Time Out Doha in the category “Best South East Asian” last year.

We highly recommend and suggest everyone to pay them a visit because you will definitely not regret it. Isaan deserves a 5 Stars (5 / 5) because our overall experience was amazing and you can count on us dropping by more often for dinner.
