Karlly Travels: A Photo Diary of Izmir, Turkey

Sadly it has come to an end, this is our last post about our tour to Turkey but we hope you enjoyed our photo diaries about this spectacular country 🙂 .

The last day of the tour was all about Izmir which is the third most populous city in Turkey behind Istanbul (read it HERE) & Ankara (read it HERE). On our itinerary we had stopovers at the House of the Virgin Mary, Basilica of St. John (the Apostle) and lastly the ancient city Ephesus.

Day 7 – May 21
House of the Virgin Mary

Our tour guide has shared with us that the Virgin Mary was taken here to live by St. John (the Apostle).

Basilica of St. John.

St. John (the Apostle) is the only apostle to die of natural causes and not a martyr’s death. It is believed that he was buried at this site.
