With numerous & various restaurant options to choose from in Doha, it can get really tricky & overwhelming when deciding where to go or what to try, don’t you agree? Luckily, Zomato is available in Qatar which solves our dilemma.
Not familiar with Zomato? Well according to our friend (Wikipedia), “Zomato is an online restaurant search and discovery service providing information on home delivery, dining-out, cafés and nightlife in cities of India and 21 other countries“.
Zomato is not only a massive list of restaurants in Doha but it also has the menus for each restaurant which gives you an idea of what to expect. Location of a restaurant is also included in the restaurant’s listing and is marked on Google maps therefore making it easy to find even the hardest hidden gems around the city. In addition to that, they allow their users to review or provide feedback regarding a restaurant they love or loathe. Either way what’s good about Zomato is that they are not allowed to tamper with the reviews which means you get the honest opinions of the users.
Isn’t that great? Honestly, we have tried their website (click HERE) and downloaded their application on our phones. What we have experienced is that it is truly easy to navigate and use. Even a non-techie like me (Karen) is able to straightforwardly access both. It’s a no-brainer!
We were actually invited 2 days ago by the Zomato team for an Iftar meal at Eatopia in The Gate Mall and to further give us an idea of what we can expect from their application. The application is available on Android, iOS & Windows Phone. You can register or you can log-in using either your Google or Facebook account.
Once you have the application downloaded on your phone, all you have to do is log-in and it will direct you to the main page. The main page has a “Collections” tab which you can click on and it will show you for example a collection of restaurants that have Ramadan offers for Iftar or Suhoor (which is handy if you ask us). I (Karen) tried searching on Google for Ramadan Iftar Offers just a few weeks ago and all I can say is that the results provided were not up to date or complete. To test it out, I clicked on The Ramadan Collections on the app and selected The Ritz-Carlton. All the details about their Suhoor and Iftar are listed plus the timings as well. All you have to do next is book your table!
Before ending the night, each foodie was given a Zomato Food-Lovers’ Bucket List. The gist was to tick off as many items off the bucket list. I was only able to get a score of 11 out of 22 items and Allyson got the highest score in the group since she had a total of 15. All attendees of the meet-up were also given goodie bags 🙂
We highly suggest you guys try out the Zomato application whether you’re a foodie like us or not. It’s truly helpful, it’s available for everyone and the best thing about it is that it’s FREE!!! We were also informed that a delivery option will be available within this year! How exciting, right?
