I promised myself I won’t go to another buffet this month because of so many
fats reasons but of course I broke it. I should stop kidding myself! Who doesn’t like eating anyway?! I should just learn how to control and know my limits when it comes to food, but then again it’s one of the hardest things in life. Now, let’s talk about that one night that made me breach my oath.
Last weekend, I got an invite for a Suhoor that took place at the Grand Ballroom of St. Regis Doha. It’s actually a gathering that was organized by our generous company for their employees to have a fun night of socializing whilst celebrating this Holy Month of Ramadan. Me and my colleagues didn’t miss this invitation and decided to join.
I dragged my sister along and reached the hotel around 9:30pm. As soon as I set foot inside the ballroom, I was astounded with how the management of the hotel turned the whole place into a luxurious Middle Eastern themed tent that almost looked like Souq Waqif. You’ll be welcomed by a huge selection of sweets. I swear this is the largest dessert section that I’ve seen! The buffet section includes different international cuisines and in every corner, you”ll spot live cooking stations of poultry, meat, seafood and vegetables.
Aside from the numerous tables and chairs available for guests, there are also exclusive booths/cabanas which are perfect for a small group if you’d like some privacy. It comes with a personal butler that would cater your needs.
A band kept playing Arabic tunes that entertained the guests the whole evening. (Unfortunately, I forgot to ask the name of the band.)
This is an annual occasion and surprisingly a lot showed up this year unlike the previous ones I’ve attended.
After having a heavy tummy, we left the tent around 1am. The lobby was spotless so we took the opportunity to snap photos.
Again, St. Regis didn’t let me down. Their Suhoor was so far the best I’ve been to, from the grand disposition of the venue to the delectable food selection and outstanding service of the staff.
I heard there’s another tent at the Al Gassar Ballroom, I hope I could visit it too before this Holy Month ends!
