Shangri-La Hotel’s opening in Doha has been highly anticipated and on the 21st of December 2015, they finally did just that. Alas, the residents of Doha have another prestigious hotel to discover and try out.
Before the year 2015 ended, Allyson and I checked out the property plus the rooms they offered (of course, we are scheduling our next staycation) but we did not overlook the outlets that were open as well. Sophie, the Guest Relations Officer who was touring us around showed us their all day dining restaurant which is called Sridan. She mentioned to us that the lunch buffet is currently priced relatively low for a limited time period at QAR 99/person (excluding beverages) therefore she was encouraging us to dine with them whenever we visit them again.
I was so curious about the food at Sridan that I coerced my family to join me for lunch last Wednesday (30th December 2015). Upon entering the outlet, we were immediately assisted and greeted by a hostess who showed us to our table. She was also kind enough to point out the different stations they had which I will elaborate in a while. The Hostess also informed us that the outlet is set up to look like a traditional Arabian souq (market) but don’t be fooled since they were not only offering Arabian cuisine.
So let’s just jump to the good part which is the FOOD! Okay, if you think the price was the best part then you are sadly mistaken because the food and variety of options that Sridan offered was spectacular and numerous. They have an array of cuisines to choose from like Asian, Italian, Indian, Moroccan and more. They have a salad bar, dessert station, bread station, seafood section and a grilling station. Honestly, it was unfortunate that I was not able to sample everything but I did try my best the only issue was that my tummy could not accommodate the volume of food I took.
I highly believe you should check them out because you will truly get your money’s worth (and you can’t go wrong with the price!). I love the taste of their food and my family was satisfied as well which is always a good sign since it is very hard to please their palate. I would rate them a (4.5 / 5) which is almost a perfect score and the only reason why I give them that is becuase the chicken kofta which I asked from the grilling station was a bit dry and chewy. Other than that, I have no issues with the food. The service was also exemplary! I commend the staff for being extra attentive. Job well done indeed!
