Argentinian cuisine at its finest, FUEGO is definitely an up-and-coming hot spot of Shangri-La Hotel Doha that you shouldn’t miss out on! The Spanish word Fuego literally translates to the English word “Fire” which truly embodies the concept of the restaurant as it offers a selection of prime beef prepared in the valued traditions of the Argentine grill.
I (Karen) was fortunate enough to receive a dinner invitation from the hotel for myself and a friend hence I had to take Allyson with me since she hasn’t tried any of their outlets to date.
We arrived pretty early and our Peruvian hostess, Kathleen, was expecting us. She immediately greeted us with a warm smile and welcomed us to Fuego where she proceeded to show us around. We were not only instantly impressed by the service but by the outlet’s overall visual as well.
The interiors itself mirror a rustic appeal with a predominantly earthy color palette and the use of wooden tables, leather chairs, aged brass horse heads plus marble provided the outlet with such a sophisticated ambiance without being intimidating yet welcoming.
After taking our seats, our Argentinian server, Ignacio, provided us with their menu and gave us recommendations of what to eat. We started with an order of their “Ceviche de Cangrejo Patagonico” (king crab ceviche) followed by Fuego’s Signature Empanadas (a selection of four empanadas inspired by 4 countries namely; Argentina, China, Italy & Qatar). For our main course I had the “Pollo Rostizado con Salvia y Manteca” (Roasted Chicken in Garlic Puree with Carrots and Parsnips on the side) and Allyson went with Ignacio’s recommendation which was the “Langostinos Tigre Grillados con Ensalada Tropical” (Char-grilled Tiger Prawns with Tropical Salad). We ended on a sweet note by having desserts particularly the “Trio de Dulce de Leche” (apologies, Allyson was too excited for this dessert that we forgot to take a photo of it 🙁 ) & “Torta Tibia de Chocolate con Helado de Vainilla” (Chocolate Brownie with Tainori Ice Cream).
Our overall dining experience at Fuego was pleasurable and will not be forgotten anytime soon as it has left a great impression on our minds. Not only was the service divine from the moment we stepped out of the elevator but all throughout our dinner, the staff were really considerate & accommodating. Case and point would be the instance I requested our server to charge my phone for me as it was running low on battery. I didn’t have any charger with me and yet they were able to assist me with my request. The food was cooked plus presented flawlessly from appetizers all the way to the last course. There was no lack in flavor and surprisingly the chicken I ordered wasn’t dry at all but quite the exact opposite. I had a bite of Allyson’s tiger prawns which were really soft and not overcooked plus the accompanying tropical salad did liven up the texture of the food. Honestly, every morsel of food was consumed so compliments to the Chef! Ambiance was amazing due to the fact that they had a duo performing traditional folk music which will put you in the mood to enjoy and have a glass of any of their South American wines.
Here on the blog, we would not recommend anything to you if we did not really believe you would enjoy it but this outlet has surpassed all our expectations making it a true stand out. We highly suggest you check FUEGO out before they get fully booked.
