Eid Al Fitr is upon us and almost all residents of Qatar are already out of the country to make good use of their Eid break. But for some of us who will be staying behind, we equally have to try our best to make the most out of this holiday time. Allyson & I are sadly part of the latter but we aren’t bothered and you shouldn’t be either since there are a few options to choose from for activities you can do to pass the time. Some examples are going on road trips to visit old ruins or landmarks of the country, shopping at the local malls / souqs, working on your fitness by going to the gym or running at Aspire Park / MIA Park / the Corniche, taking a splash at Aqua Park Qatar, dune bashing or booking a staycation at one of the many fancy hotels or resorts.
I have one suggestion for the staycation option and it is a resort that I initially wrote about last January called Simaisa (read previous post HERE). To be perfectly honest though, this option will cost a pretty penny but if you are a group then the total can be split among your peers.
My family & I actually checked in at the resort about 2 months ago prior to my exit to Dubai. I was given a voucher by the resort for an overnight stay inclusive of breakfast for 4 pax at a 2-bedroom villa but as if that was not generous enough, they even upgraded us to a 3-bedroom villa upon booking which was totally unexpected and shocked me completely. Of course I didn’t complain but I was extremely grateful.
We made sure to use all of the amenities that were available at that time and tried out 3 of their outlets that were open already. A quick tour of the villa was the first priority and my sister & I then proceeded to the gym for a brisk workout. After taking some time to rest from the gym plus take a shower, we jumped into the cold pool for relief from the hot day. My mother then joined me at the sauna where we bonded and talked about matters regarding life. Of course all of this resulted to hungry tummies which only made us happy when we found out that it was seafood night at Infinity Restaurant. Priced at 155/person (inclusive of drink) for the buffet, we just had to ensure that our money was worth it by ordering a huge plateful of various grilled seafood such as lobster, shrimp, crabs and many more.
The next day my family and I made our way to Awtar restaurant for our complimentary breakfast which was impressive with its variety. We decided to just lounge around at our own rooms and took a lot of photos in each space of the villa after stuffing our bellies due to the limited time left prior to checking out.
Our stay was really remarkable, the food was amazing, staff were polite plus accommodating and overall I would recommend the resort as long as you have extra money to spare. Prices are quite high but despite that, it was terribly hard to make a booking. So here are the rack rates as per the rate card that was on display at the reception (rates might have changed so I would advise to check with the resort beforehand).
