We don’t believe we’ve ever met anyone who didn’t like Asian cuisine and with all of the available restaurants in Doha serving dishes from the orient (from Philippines, China, Korea, Japan, etc.), we think it’s a cuisine that particularly caters to everyone’s taste buds. There’s an Asian dish that will surely satisfy anyone’s palate.
I (Karen) have never stepped foot into Trader Vic’s at the Hilton Hotel (though Allyson has been there a couple of times already), hence I was somewhat curious about the establishment’s look and food which actually worked out well because last week, we had the privilege of trying out their Asian Street Market deal. This offer is available all throughout September from 7PM onward for QAR 145 either on a sharing or an a la carte basis (you have literally 5 days remaining to test it out!).
Kim (her IG account is @mama_baba_ganoush) and the mentioned outlet organized a bloggers’ dinner composed of some of the local bloggers to delight in the dishes that is part of the Asian Street Market.
Well here’s what’s on the menu:
The food was basically laid on the long table for everyone to share and the flavors were exquisite, perfectly cooked by Chef Simon but there were definitely some stand outs. For starters, the Vietnamese Spring Rolls were refreshing and quite aromatic because of the fragrant basil that was incorporated in the rolls. The obvious standout however, in our opinion, were the Wasabi Prawns. We’re not particular fans of Wasabi and we make sure that we skip mixing this in our soy sauce when we have sushi at other outlets but this dish had us converted. It was prepared in a way that the wasabi wasn’t too overpowering but just right to still have that distinct wasabi taste. It was truly delicious especially since it was topped with a sweet mango salsa.
As for the choices for the main course, we specifically delighted in the Wood Oven Spiced Hammour plus the Pad Thai Noodles. The hammour was garnished with a scallion mash that wasn’t dry and complimented the dish really well as it added that punch of flavor to a rather basic fish.
We would highly recommend for you to order the Lotus Chocolate Tart out of all the desserts that are available on the menu. We loved this sweet so much that there was no trace of it on the plate after it was placed on the table. Obvious from the name, the crust of this tart was made out of Lotus biscuits, chocolate ganache topped with coconut ice cream plus caramel sauce. It was a definite crowd pleaser!
Book a table as soon as possible in order not to miss out on this limited offer! Go and taste our favorites and let us know in the comments section below what you think about it. 🙂
