A huge part of our bucket list is touring the world though we don’t hate on the concept of a “staycation”. What is a “staycation” exactly? Well, for us, we’ve defined it as a vacation but without stepping foot outside of the country we’re in while relishing the perks of being a tourist like living in fancy hotels. That’s why if you’ll browse through our blog, you’ll see quite a number of posts regarding our hotel stays in Doha because we particularly have fun checking-in at the marvelous hotels that have popped up in the city.
Recently, we had the chance to stay overnight (23rd – 24th September) at the fabulous 5 star Melia Hotel Doha situated in West Bay since we were invited by the property. It was an opportunity that we simply couldn’t pass out on! This wasn’t the first time we’ve been to the hotel because we’ve been there previously for their Fusion Brunch every Friday and to their bar / club, Noir, where we find ourselves partying to their urban sounds until the wee hours of the morning.
I (Karen) initially fell in love with the hotel when we decided to include it in our “Hotel Hopping” video on our YouTube channel (view it below & jump to 2:45). I was in awe of the beautiful set-up of the hotel’s lobby lounge (Riqqa) plus their simple yet contemporary rooms and suites. The few times we’ve been to the hotel suggests that we’d have a comfortable stay here since service is good, staff are friendly plus we need not step out of the hotel to have a pleasurable experience.
We were provided a Twin Deluxe Room as per our request and we were truly treated like royalty since the invite did not only include a room but also fusion brunch, dinner at their Indian restaurant, Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor, & drinks at Noir on the check-in date plus breakfast in bed & Spanish lunch at Aceite the following day.
We liked our room due to the modern look and ambiance it oozed and it didn’t feel cluttered since it was truly spacious. It was also complete with a safe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer plus robes & slippers that were tucked away in a huge closet!
The mini bar was stocked well with a variety of beverages to choose from. Looking from our window, you can spot a nice view of The Pearl Qatar and the Corniche at a distance. But do you want to know the best part of it all (besides the thought of it being an all-expense paid stay)? The unexpected sweet surprise (literally!) that was waiting for us in the corner of our room, a collection of cupcakes, which was arranged by the hotel’s Guest Experience Team & their Executive Chef, Chef Mourhaf.
Since we’ve written about the Friday Fusion Brunch of Melia before (read it HERE), we thought we’d just tease you with the various food they offer (we’re evil like that…buahahaha)!
We’ll share our experience for the Indian dinner we had at Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor plus our Spanish Lunch at Aceite on a different post so we have the liberty to go more into detail about it without making this piece a novel!
But here’s a couple of pictures of us at Noir where we experienced a few flashbacks as the DJ dropped hit tracks from the late 90s to early 2000s. We had a great time and went back to our room past 1.30AM. Because of that, we overslept and missed out on breakfast the next day but we didn’t mind it at all since we had a blast the night before!
