Often times we find ourselves a bit hesitant to venture out of our comfort zone and try new things especially when it comes to food.

This blog however has become a way for us to challenge ourselves and partake in cuisines that do not usually cater to our taste since we receive invites from various restaurants that offer food which is different from one another.

We are certainly grateful for this as it lets us experience the distinct flavors that the world has to offer without us paying a hefty fee for a plane ticket.

That’s why we were quite pleased after Melia Doha invited us for an Indian Dinner at Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor as part of our staycation (read full post HERE).

We’ve been to a few Indian restaurants before that have certainly surprised us because some dishes from the country are quite delicious, so we were hoping that our dinner would amuse our taste buds.

It was a set menu prepared by the lovely team of Signature who served us with soup, a starter platter, a variety of food for the main course and 2 desserts.

We enjoyed the lentil soup since it wasn’t too heavy and as for the starter platter, I liked the parmesan coated chicken and the stuffed mushroom. Allyson took pleasure in consuming the chili prawns which was not a surprise as she appreciates spicy food while I on the other hand took a small bite and learned pretty quickly that my mouth couldn’t handle the fire!

Starter Platter (L - R): Murg Zatar Parmesan Tikka (chicken coated in parmesan), Guntur Chilli Peppery Prawn, Rawa Khumb, & Lucknowi Lamb Chops

The food served for the main course were all stellar but we specifically loved the prawn curry plus the biryani. The sweet juices of the coconut where the curry was placed really seeped into the dish making it so fragrant and flavorful. The prawns weren’t overcooked and were really easy to chew.

Main Courses (L - R): Dum Nariyali Prawns (curry), Signature Butter Chicken, Lalla Mussa Dal (black lentils) & Hydrabadi Gosht Biryani with assorted Indian Bread

The Electric Kulfi is called as such since this specific dessert was topped with pop rocks making it resemble an electric shock in your mouth once you take a bite of it! It made me reminisce about my innocent childhood when I used to eat a lot of this candy. Allyson unfortunately wasn’t a fan because she just doesn’t like pop rocks in general.

We’d like to thank the staff of this outlet as we were treated really well and we were always checked upon. But don’t think that they gave this much attention only to us because as we were observing our surroundings, we noticed that they paid equal care to their other patrons. Shout out to Rajat, our server that evening, for taking time to explain to us the different ingredients and the method of cooking done for each dish.
